October 2020 Full Moon Tarot Spread

A “Full Moon in Taurus” spread for Halloween’s blue moon! They don’t say “once in a blue moon” for nothing! A blue moon occurs when we have two full moons in one month. We saw the full moon in Aries on October 1, and now for the second moon of the month, the full moon in Taurus occurs on spooky Halloween, October 31, 2020.

But this particular moon is special in more ways than one. And all I can say is, it’s going to be a REAL doozy. If you’re wondering whether to drink on Halloween, might I suggest a hard “no” because of all the unrestrained energy the planets are giving off.

First, with the good: Halloween is a great time for the full moon in Taurus because Taurus is all about eating, drinking, and being luxurious. And thanks to the sun in Scorpio, this full moon is prime for dressing up, being ghoulishly festive, and having a grand old time.

Now, the not-so-good: The moon will be DIRECTLY conjunct Uranus (planet of surprises, and not always the good kind)—and I’m talking like, same degree, direct. So, we might expect emotional outbursts from our friends and loved ones—especially after some pumpkin juice!

Additionally, Mercury (now retrograde) will square Saturn (planet of rules and restriction). What’s that mean? Well, our words are just bound to come off that much harsher.

Now, Taurus is also ruled by Venus (planet of love, worth, and beauty), which makes Venus a key planet in this moon as well. Venus will be opposing Chiron, the asteroid that discusses our deepest insecurities, fears, and childhood wounds. Yeah. So, it’s even more likely that couples will have discussions around deep-seated fears or repressed issues. Combine that with the moon conjunct Uranus, and I’d expect surprise fights, intense convos, and probably floods of tears.

Now, for the best news: Mars (planet of passion) and Mercury (planet of communication) will both be retrograde at this time. For that reason, this is a perfect opportunity to revisit those wounds that Uranus and Chiron are bringing up to the surface. This is particularly true because full moons are about finding closure. So, if you can, try to reflect on how your wounds make you act (Mars) and how you communicate them to others (Mercury).

Here’s a tarot spread to help you wade through the Halloween moon!
